About the property

Peak Hill Station is a freehold high country station comprising of 1,131 hectares (2,794 acres). Operated as a productive sheep and beef farm it has a reputation for strong stock performance.
With the iconic Southern Alps as it?s backdrop, this property is situated alongside the upper reaches of the Rakaia River. Glacially feed, this large braided river is considered one of the best Salmon fisheries in New Zealand. The Station has approximately 3km of frontage to the river and is just a short distance to the two major head water tributaries ? the Wilberforce and Mathias Rivers.
Peak Hill station also offers a completely different waterfront aspect with approximately 2 kilometres of water frontage to Lake Coleridge. This lake itself holds large numbers of Chinook Salmon, brown and rainbow trout. It is here that the station has a private fishing that that sleeps five.
Formed over millions of years, the glacial landscape surrounding the property is striking. With Lake Coleridge on it?s Northeast boundary and the Rakaia River some 170meters below on the Southwest boundary ? the station has the best of both river and lake.
Despite the high country location and remote feel, the property is only an hour away from Christchurch?s International Airport. Closer to hand is the luxury golf resort Terrace Downs complete with accommodation, restaurant and bar.
Some 20 minutes drive away is the ski town of Methven. Here you will find all the basic conveniences ranging from supermarket, pharmacy, general shopping and eateries.
The entrance to Mt Hutt Ski field is a similar distance from the property. At 2086m Mt Hutt has one of the largest vertical drops in the South Island.
